A 7-member provincial delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien recently traveled to the United States and Canada on business.
The Conference on Cooperation and Investment in Petrochemicals and Energy in Dung Quat Economic Zone was successfully organized on August 13-15, in Houston, Texas, USA, with the support of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, Energy Capital Vietnam, Globalinx Group, and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company, Quang Ngai province, in collaboration with the aforementioned agencies.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien delivered the opening speech and provided a summary of Quang Ngai's socioeconomic position. Ha Hoang Viet Phuong, Chairman Dung Quat Economic Zone and Provincial Industrial Parks Authority, presented the investment environment in Dung Quat Economic Zone, investment incentives, and key projects in the petrochemical and energy sectors that Quang Ngai province is seeking foreign direct investment (FDI).
Mr. Khuong Le Thanh, member of the Board of Directors of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical JSC, introduced the formation and development of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, the first oil refinery in Vietnam; at the same time, he proposed that US investors participate in cooperation in the Dung Quat oil refinery expansion project phase 2, as well as cooperate in the supply of crude oil and environmental treatment technology according to the commitment of COP26.
Besides, the provincial delegation contacted and worked with corporations and companies in the fields of oil and gas and energy, providing environmental treatment technology meeting COP26 standards, such as Baker Hughes, Energy Transfer, Energy Capital Vietnam, ExxonMobil, and An Phat Group. The delegation made a field survey at the New Technology Center of Backer Hughes Group, one of the world’s largest corporations in the field of oil and gas services, and Exxon Mobil Corporation’s Refinery and Petrochemical Center.
The group visited Canada from August 17 to 18, where it met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Canada, Pham Vinh Quang, and assessed the traffic system in the capital city of Ottawa.
Through the working sessions, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Canada, Pham Vinh Quang, and Consul General of Vietnam in Houston, Nguyen Trac Ba, both highly appreciated the initiative and efforts to find cooperation and investment opportunities in Quang Ngai province. As shared, Vietnam’s diplomatic missions abroad are ready to support and act as a bridge to promote economic cooperation between Quang Ngai province and foreign partners, contributing to the effective implementation of international integration in the country.
